I should let y'all know up front that this is going to be a lonnnnggggg one so you might want to grab a sweet tea or a coffee...

The first thing I want to make clear is that I truly believe that God created each and every one of us perfect and beautiful the way we are. We are all unique, and that is what makes us special! No matter what size you are, what type of skin or hair you have, YOU are beautiful because you were created in God's image- a daughter of the most high King!

You may have noticed a new page on the blog next to the "ABOUT" section titled "SIZING." Some of the details I want to add to this page may be more information than you care about, or even need to know, but I have a reason in sharing. I'm not a size zero (and if you are, you go, girl!), and not every piece of clothing that I try on fits or works for my body. I believe that part of discovering your personal style is taking a combination of what God gave you, working hard to be the best you you can be, and finding the styles you love and that look amazing on you.

Example... When rompers {and jumpsuits} first started coming back (can't even remember how many years ago now), I loved them, but I could not, for the life of me, find one that looked good on me. I, no joke, probably tried on a good 20-30 before I ever found ONE that worked for my body type. I was kind of sad because I thought it was just going to be a style I couldn't rock (I know this sounds a bit superficial to be sad about but bear with me); it wasn't until I found that first perfect fitting romper that I got the confidence to keep trying them and to just know that not all clothing items are made for every body shape. It just takes perseverance to find exactly what works for you and what you are going to feel like a million bucks in! Rompers are one of my favorite clothing items to rock now, but even when I come across one that wasn't made with my curves in mind, I just hang it back up and keep looking. Chances are that you are going to feel much better holding off until you find the perfect fit rather than buying one that will hang in the back of your closet with the tags on because you never feel quite ready to wear it.

Phew... Sorry for the ridiculously long explanation, but all that to introduce this new page I'm going to be adding to the blog. Here, you can find accurate information about my body type, measurements (eek!), and details about my skin and hair type so that you can take all this information and use it to your advantage to help you when you're about to buy an item! Hopefully, I'll have the chance to introduce you to companies you haven't ordered from before, and one of the most frustrating things for me is looking at an outfit post and wanting to purchase something but not knowing how their sizing compares to other brands. I'm sure we have all experienced one time or another ordering from a company using their measurement guide and receiving an item that is either way off from what their sizing says or just simply doesn't work for you. More often than not, I'll add an item to my cart but end up talking myself out of it because I'm afraid I'll pick the wrong size and have to go through the trouble of returning it. Even a makeup product that I have heard amazing things about but might hesitate to order because I'm not sure how it will work with my skin versus another girl's skin. So, here, I am going to just lay it all out for you! In my blog posts, I'll do my best to share what size I'm wearing in certain items so you can compare it against my measurements to get an idea of how to translate the fit to your own body!

Here's some quick basic info before I get more detailed.
Height: 5'3"
Weight: Usually between 130-135lbs
Body shape: Pear- small chest, curvy hips
Shoe size: 6 in normal shoes, but I almost always buy a 6.5 for extra room in boots and sneakers.
General top size: Mostly small/medium
General jeans size: 28"/size 6-8

Shoulder- 15"
Bust- 34"
Waist (this measurement is from the smallest part of my waist, barely above my belly button)- 29"
Hips (measured at the widest part of my hips, for me it is right across my bootay)- 40"
Arm (measured around my relaxed bicep because raise your hand if you've ever bought a shirt that was too tight in the arms...ugh)- 11"

Skin: I tend to have extremely dry skin. I am always on the hunt for the next best moisturizer for my skin. I have to use a heavy moisturizer in the morning before my makeup and at night before bed, but I STILL get very dry throughout the day. I also have a lot of redness and enlarged capillaries on my chin which I am looking for the right product to treat. If you have any similar skin issues, I'd love to hear your favorite product recommendations!

Hair: I've got the blessing curse {the grass is always greener, right?} of super flat, super stick straight hair! It hates to hold a curl or any extra volume. It loves to be tangled and full of split ends ;) Awesome, I know. When I'm bored, I add highlights, but then I tend to get lazy and let them grow out. I'm currently contemplating going all over MUCH lighter, but I'm afraid I'll have to deal with more tangles and split ends from the bleaching...Decisions, decisions.

If y'all made it this far, you are a saint! Thank you so much for reading! I truly hope that {over}sharing this information will help you in your shopping adventures! I am always happy to answer any questions about a particular item- just leave me a comment! :)

  1. This is a great idear, one thing people ALWAYS tell me is the #1 deterrer of online shopping is not knowing what size to get. Maybe this will help people take the leap!

  2. I think this is a great idea. I'm so glad to know this because since our measurements are exactly alike,(wishful thinking) I'll just get everything you do and we can be mother daughter look alikes.
