I have always loved writing pretty. I was the person who would take notes in class and then go home and recopy them in my best handwriting so that I could study pretty notes. I would always doodle and practice making my handwriting as cute as possible. It wasn't until I decided that I wanted our wedding invite envelopes addressed with calligraphy and found out just how much actual calligraphers cost that I started toying with the possibility of learning to do actual calligraphy myself! I watched videos, read articles, and recently even took a short online class on "writing pretty."

After PLENTY of messed up envelopes and a lot of practice, I have to say that I actually LOVED how the addresses on our wedding envelopes turned out! I can't say that I am a professional by any stretch of the imagination, but I am a pretty good "faux-lligrapher!" What in the world is faux-lligraphy you may ask? Easy. It is an easy way to make normal handwriting look like calligraphy!

Let me show you my best faux-lligraphy and how I achieve it!

All you need is paper and a pen. Here I'm using a sharpie, but you can use a regular pen, a thin sharpie, or any other type of writing utensil really. It's up to you how thick you want

Step 1: Write a phrase in normal cursive handwriting.
Not so great, right? Don't worry, in the next steps, you can fix the imperfections.

Step 2: Retrace all the downstrokes with a thicker line.

Step 3: Voila! Faux-lligraphy!

This fake-it-til-you-make-it technique works for all different handwriting styles!

These are two of my favorites...
There's the fun, bubbly cursive!

Then, this cursive which I also love, but I'm not sure how to describe!

Here's how our wedding invites turned out after I did them all myself!

Now that I know how to fake it, I'm working on making it ;) I've been practicing my real calligraphy with a calligraphy set Marme gave me for Christmas that is perfect for beginners. It comes with an instruction manual and all the tools you'll need to learn beautiful calligraphy!

Amazing calligraphy set by LHCalligraphy. Gorgeous packaging and branding!

Hi y'all! So since this is my blog and obviously all about me, you're going to be hearing a lot about some people that are so very important in my life. I figure it'll be fun to go ahead and introduce them to you now! This in NO way covers ALL of our family, but these people are a part of what makes me who I am and I would be no where without their unconditional love and support!
Let's begin...
IMG_7502aMy husband Dorian... AKA Dor, AKA D, AKA hubby, AKA hubster, AKA hubs... I think you get the picture. He's a total man's man- hunter, fisherman, lover of guns, tools, and work out equipment...You name it. He sets his sights on what he wants and he goes after it with all his heart. That's exactly how he got me, after all! ;) I could go on and on about him, but to spare you all the mushy stuff, I will use two words that epitomize him- loving and loyal. Dedicated always to God, country, and family!

Now to introduce my family- The Chessers:IMG_7190
IMG_7174My daddy- the man I have looked up to my whole life to set an example for the kind of man I wanted to marry! Also a total man's man, but the most caring, loving and protective dad I could have asked for. He can fix anything, and he always puts his family before everything else.

My mommy- AKA Marme or Marmes (and any other variety of nicknames that spin off of Marme). My role model. The epitome of the type of Godly woman, wife, and mother I want to be! She is absolutely the most selfless person I know, and my original shopping partner :)

My sister, Alyrose- AKA Rosie. The oldest of the siblings. Mommy to my sweet nephew, Wyatt. She's an elementary school teacher so that should tell you a lot right there. It takes a special kind of angel to be a teacher! She has the best personality, bubbly and infectious. People absolutely love to be around her, and good thing- because she is always looking for new victims to talk their ear off ;)

My brother #1, Seth- AKA Sethly, AKA manly man jr #1. The oldest of the boys and one year younger than me. One of the top three brothers in the world ;) Even though he is younger, he has always been protective of me. His silly, fun-loving personality can always make everyone laugh, but he is also the most loving person to the people who are important to him.

My brother #2, Caleb- AKA Kay, AKA manly man jr #2. Another of the top three brothers in the world :) He is the most level headed of all the kids, but he has the best sense of humor- so quick on his feet and will have a comeback for anything you throw at him. He has a quieter personality like me, but he will always stand up for and protect the people he loves without hesitation.

My brother #3, Will- AKA Wilbur, AKA my baby brother, AKA manly man jr #3. Last, but definitely not least of the top three brothers in the world ;) Will is the sweetest of everyone (even though he might kill me for saying it). Even as the youngest, he is so protective of the whole family, and I am the most protective of him because I know that he has the biggest heart and so much room to care for and protect the people he loves.

My nephew, Wyatt- AKA Beebs. This little/big guy has brought so much joy to all of our lives. He is a tough guy and gentleman. He adores his mommy and nonny (Marme), and he looks up to his Papa (my dad) and uncles to be just like them!

Thank you for reading and letting me share some of the people I love most in the world!

The story of our love as told by Dorian and I!
Hello all of Cassidy blog readers, this is Dorian!
As some of you may know I am the proud thief of this gorgeous woman's heart. She is my best friend, she is a role model to me, she makes me a better man everyday I spend with her. I could not imagine my life without her and now I will never have to.
About two years ago, she was just the gorgeous girl who was probably around my same age who happened to work at the gym. A year later she became my fiancée and now, my wife. I'm getting ahead of myself now though. So back to her being the girl who swiped my ID card. We had shared multiple, longer than normal, hellos and flirty smiles before I finally worked up the courage to talk to her. In that first conversation I pathetically confessed my love for her physical beauty, while also TELLING her she would be mine. Cocky? Ehh maybe, but I wasn't wrong. That first conversation I could hardly get my mind wrapped around the fact that I was finally taking to this girl...and then she told me she was I had 2 problems. 1) she thinks I'm cocky, crazy, and not 19. 2) I am 19, and have to avoid that question forever. Then she asked....I was done for. I was honest and told her. She then said "well there's other front desk girls that work here, that are around your age I could get one of them?". OUCH, she broke my heart in our first conversation, knowing this wouldn't be easy, I decided to keep pushing. I replied "I don't want to talk to them, I want to talk to you". She must've liked that because a week later I was taking her to the lake for our first date. We sat and talked for 5 straight hours. And I just got a glimpse of her inner beauty, and already it was just as, if not more, beautiful than her face, and have you seen this girls face? I knew she had me wrapped around her finger already, and I let her know it.
It was a dream. I was and will forever be crazy about this girl. And when I wasn't talking to her I was bragging about her or thinking about her. That has not and will never change.
Just to be clear, we have had our fair share of fights and hard times. But we have always gotten better from them, and even when we don't fight, we are getting better daily. That is my definition of perfection. It's the same way we try to live our lives in an attempt to be more like Jesus. We will never be perfect like He was, but we can always continue to get better. We will never have the perfect relationship, but we will always continue to get better. Every day, for the rest of our lives.
I've always been the guy who would take a gloomy rainy day over a bright sunshiny day. Don't know why, that's just who I am. Cassidy gives my life the color that it needs and brightens my days just the way her blue eyes and big smile brighten up a room. That's all the color I need in my life, for the rest of my life.
"I want to marry you beneath the sweet soft southern sky, I want to lie with you until the day that I die, I will hold you in my arms until the morning light, you and I will know where we sleep tight"

Can you imagine all the things running through my head when this 19 year old was telling me that I would be HIS?!
For some reason that day, despite our age difference, I felt like The Lord was giving me a push in the same direction, not away. I think I fell in love with his smile the first time he shot it at me while I was checking him in. I fell in love with his silliness and personality the first time he stopped to talk to me for the entire end of my shift! And I was an absolute goo goo eyed mess after the night we went to the lake together and talked and laughed for hours! We've spent the last two years having the time of our lives. From our late night trip to the lake after work to amazing dinners on the riverwalk to surprise flowers to meeting the families to a trip to Chicago to our first holidays together to getting engaged then MARRIED, the time with my handsome gentleman has been like the best dream, and now we get to live it with each other forever!
I am crazy in love with my handsome man. He's sweet, he's thoughtful and caring, and if I'm REAL sick he'll even do the dishes for me ;)! He claims that I've had him wrapped around my finger since day one, but I'd argue that I'm wrapped around all of his fingers. When I think of his happiness, that is what makes me happy, and I am always of thinking about how to make us better and even happier together. We have goals to work towards together and separately, and we encourage the other to keep reaching for them!
We've had our ups and downs, but the important thing is that we've always made it through the hard days and always come out stronger! We will get better constantly, move forward, push each other, push ourselves, become stronger! It takes hard work, but that's what we both will put into each other forever. Team work, trust, honesty, laughs, loves, tears, years, silliness, smiles; I'm so blessed to have all of these with Dorian.

Just thought I'd gather a collection of things I currently have my eye on. Considering it has rained almost every day for a month straight, I am seriously considering ordering this pair of rainboots, but I know as soon as I do the rain will stop. I definitely need an umbrella that covers your entire top half while still being able to see where I am walking! I'm obsessing over iridescent shoes right now, anything pink as always, and flamingos are just too cute! I can't get enough. What are y'all currently keeping your eyes on?

Hi there! I'm so happy you've stopped by to check out my little space here. I'm Cassidy, the gal behind this little endeavor! First things first I want my blog to be a reflection of my tastes, my inspirations, and my loves. Everyday will probably be different here, but it will all be ME! Hopefully, if you stick around, you'll get to know more and more about me through the pages of this blog, but let me start off by just telling you some things about me!
I'm a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and, most recently, a wife to my loving husband Dorian!
I have a passion for life and try to live every day to the fullest!
I am shopping obsessed and have always been interested in the world of fashion and exploring my personal style.
I love the color pink!
Dressing up is my favorite!
I could eat ice cream every day (multiple times a day)!
I'm not a morning person.
I drink my creamer with a little bit of coffee!
I'm a Texan born and raised, and I use the word "y'all" like it's going out of style!
I adore calligraphy and writing pretty.
I'm a total girly girl- glitter, sequins, confetti, bows, flowers- I'll take 'em all!
I married the love of my life on November 15, 2014, and I am so blessed to be able to do life with him every day!
Above all, I am a follower of Christ and a daughter of the King!
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you'll come back soon to follow me on my journey!
